Hello,
I would like to object to the extension on the following grounds.
This pub, while popular, is a victim of it's own success.
There are several occasions where the pub has drinkers sitting in the street outside causing much grief to the drivers on both Sillwood street and Bedford Place. They have to avoid the people sitting in the roads.
That is not even taking into consideration the people who regularly complain that the noise from Bands and external drinkers (not only the smoking variety) cause late at night.
I am unable to make any comment over the crime aspect of such late night drinking, however some of the people from the premises do move into Bedford Square and other areas to continue their 'discussions'.
There is no noticeable external CCTV to monitor the activities, and the recent "Be quiet campaign" has had no noticeable affect on this pub.
We notice that from your consultation list, that the residents and respective LAT's, Neighbourhood groups have not been consulted.

With reference to your comments on leaving the lights on all night, the lighting scheme has been granted planning permission and in order to comply with Secure By Design recommendations will be lit throughout the night. This should not cause any adverse affect to local residents as the Bandstand is not ‘floodlit’. Instead the lighting scheme has been sensitively designed to silhouette the intricate detail of the Bandstand, not light the area around it.
I hope that this helps to clarify the issues raised.
Kind regards
Toni Manuel
