Dear Liam

I believe the engineer attended to this and did not have the right tools
and had to abandon the job, I have now email the Field manager and
requested that someone attends as soon as possible.

Regards

Magda

New email sent//

Hello,
Following a 17 minutes wait on the phone to your offices today, please find
enclosed pictures of the phonebox, the disrepair, the door belonging to the
kiosk located behind the box, and the clear evidence of the "services" cards
left there.
Could you please arrange for someone to not only visit, but actually repair
this.

A community has launched a campaign to save their red phone box.

The traditional booth, which is understood to have a preservation order on it, has been left badly damaged and has even been used as a makeshift toilet.

Residents in Bedford Square, Brighton, said BT has not done enough to maintain and stop the historic phone box from falling into a state of disrepair.

Liam Mandville, who lives in Bedford Square, told The Argus he has been waiting for 10 months for the iconic street furniture to be fixed and restored.

Mr Mandville said: “We are proud of and cherish our traditional red phone box so it is horrible it is smashed up.

“People do not want to use it as it opens on to the seafront and gets very cold."

After the Argus contacted BT a spokesman said: “We are aware of the vandalism which has taken place at this kiosk.

“We have visited the site to make the kiosk safe by removing broken glass and also repairing the mechanism to restore it back into service.

“We are aware that the box still needs remedial works in its appearance due to this vandalism to the structure, and this is on our planned works and will be done as soon as resource becomes available.

“Our priority was to ensure that the kiosk is in a safe and working condition.”

Interestingly I saw a B.T. engineer actually polishing the glass of the red phone box in Powis Rd Brighton the other day. It would seem B.T.s love and care is fickle!
